Exciting news! We have a new state-of-the art indoor arena!

Stonelea Farm offers horse riding lessons for all ages and levels of riders in a fun, safe, friendly atmosphere. Horse riding lessons are taught by Lucia DiBenedetto, a certified instructor with over 25 years of experience teaching riding lessons, and many years of teaching elementary school prior to that. We specialize in teaching a basic balanced seat with more of a focus towards dressage and eventing.

Your child will get to experience all aspects of the horse world, from the basics of horsemanship, such as grooming, tacking and untacking, to every day care, training, and stable management. Through this involvement, children will learn to love, care for, and respect horses.

Do you have a boy? Well, parents, it's a fact that there are more girls in this sport than boys – in the lower levels. However, the other fact is, the higher up they get, the more the demographic evens out! Let your son try it. They'll have a good time and they will love their time with the horses. Once a boy gets it, they tend to stick with it; give them the chance!

Offerings at Stonelea Farm

Riding lessons   We offer two options; private and small group lessons (2 to 5) students.

Adult Riding lessons   Adults, you can learn to ride here at Stonelea Farm too! I will be as patient with you as I am with the children. My goal is for you to have a positive, safe first riding experience; if it is truly your first time or the first after many years away from horses. Come on your schedule! Contact Lucia.

Camps   Half day and extended day — both have a limited number of students for individual attention; both camps have an intense skill set and for the extended day, after a lunch break, the afternoon continues with any or some of the following: horse-related games, art, DVD, special project; and ends with the observation of the herd pecking order during feeding time.

Student-only camp   Only open to current students; intense and very hands-on

One-day Horsemanship Camps   A great introductory class for kids who want to ride a horse.

Hello Pony classes   For ages 2 to 6; an introduction to horses, safety with horses, grooming, a ride and a souvenir. This class requires an adult to attend with the child.

Neighborhood Hello Pony classes   For ages 2 to 6; Same as above, but you put together your own neighborhood or pre-school group. Minimum of 5 children required in order to hold the class.

Homeschool Programs   Special group pricing for all homeschooled children. Lessons must be taken during the mornings of Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The day will be be determined upon availability when you call.

Girl Scouts   A visit to the farm will help scouts earn their “horse fan” badge or a Brownie “try-it”. We love hosting Girls and Boy Scouts! They will have a blast riding, learning about body parts, breeds and colors and other horse knowledge, and doing some of the barn chores – the cleanup!

Working Student Program   For children 10 and older who are passionate about horses and would love to spend more time at the barn in addition to their lesson time. Student must be a current student at Stonelea Farm. Student must interview for the job and show maturity and responsibility. A written agreement is required between parent, child, and Miss Lucia for this privilege.

Riding to Recovery   A non-profit lesson program for children with chronic illnesses such as cancer, leukemia, brain tumor, cystic fibrosis and sickle-cell anemia.

Horses for Lease - Stonelea Farm occasionally has horses and ponies for lease. To find out more, contact Lucia.
